OHANA ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Who should contact us?
We are happy to receive referrals directly from parents or carers, from local authorities, or other professionals involved with ensuring that the child’s educational needs are met. The child can be resident in the UK, or abroad.

Some will have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care plan), but this is not always necessary. Children may or may not currently be enrolled in a traditional school setting. We can consider both.
Please contact us on admissions@weareohana.co.uk

Who We Support
Becoming part of the Ohana family would be best suited for children in a number of different circumstances.

They may be experiencing high levels of anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) or simply struggle to attend school because they haven’t been offered the correct support. This could be due to neurodiversity, Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) or other related conditions.

Equally, we can support children who may not be neurodiverse in their learning but who struggle to flourish in the large, busy and inflexible environments offered by mainstream style schools.

We can also be a valuable resource for children who have been home schooled and need more intensive and structured support as the curriculum intensifies towards important exams.

Children may currently be without a school placement that meets their needs in their local area – this could be because the family has moved locations, there aren’t enough spaces where they live or they have been excluded from their current setting.
All of these young people may find a transformative educational opportunity to learn differently with Ohana.

OUR 4 STAGE ADMISSIONS PROCESS

1. Referral and consultation. Assessment of all available information and paperwork (EHCP, Educational Psychology reports, most recent school reports)

2. Contact with family and meeting with child online to gain a better understanding of the needs and aspirations of everyone concerned

3. Online assessment will take place to gauge academic levels to allow us to begin to structure a bespoke curriculum that will meet the  needs of the child

4. Offer of placement including contracts, funding arrangements etc. sent to local authority (or parent if self-funding). A start date is confirmed after the signed contracts are received
