WHY WE CREATED OUR SENSE WHEEL
We believe that therapeutically led education is essential because it places children’s individual emotional, social, and sensory needs at the heart of the learning experience. That is why we have developed our Sense Wheel.
Using our Sense Wheel as a therapeutic structure provides the consistency and clarity needed to effectively monitor and evaluate developmental, emotional, and academic outcomes. By embedding therapeutic practices into daily routines, we can gather meaningful, ongoing data about a child’s progress, allowing this to be seen not just in academic achievement, but in emotional wellbeing, social interaction, and self-regulation.
SENSE OF SAFETY
Feeling safe emotionally, physically, and psychologically is a fundamental prerequisite for learning. For children who may experience heightened anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or difficulty with social cues, a sense of safety is essential for their brains to shift from survival mode to learning mode. As we work towards our children having a sense of safety, we empower them to learn.
SENSE OF SELF
We want our children to develop a strong and positive sense of who they really are – for academic success, lifelong wellbeing, self-worth, confidence, and identity formation. We want to prepare all children for life, not just exams. Knowing and accepting who they are gives them the foundation they need to transition into adulthood with self-assurance.
SENSE OF SUCCESS
Through recognising their achievements children build confidence, motivation, and a belief in their own potential. When success is nurtured and recognised in a meaningful way, it can transform a child’s relationship with learning, themselves, and the world around them.
